The invention relates to a formwork frame (12) for a formwork element (13) of a ceiling formwork (1), comprising: a first cross-support (14); a second cross-support (15); a connecting piece (16) which is longer in comparison to the first (14) and second cross-support (15), which is arranged substantially perpendicular to the first (14) and second cross-support (15), and which connects the first cross-support (14) to the second cross-support (15); a first lateral recess (17) on the one longitudinal side of the formwork frame (12); and a second lateral recess (18) on the other longitudinal side of the formwork frame (12).
