The invention discloses a self-locking type window and balcony climbing preventer which comprises a lower box and an upper cover plate. The upper cover plate is disposed on the upper side of the lower box. At least one rotary shaft which can turn between an initial position and a working position, a transmission mechanism driving the rotary shaft to turn between the initial position and the working position and a locking mechanism locking the rotary shaft at the working position are positioned in the lower box. A plurality of spikes are disposed on the rotary shaft at intervals, and one first opening corresponding to each spike is formed in the upper cover plate. When each rotary shaft is located at the initial position, each spike does not exceed the plane of the corresponding first opening upwardly; when the rotary shaft is located at the working position, each spike upwardly penetrates out of the set height of the corresponding first opening. By the upward spikes, climbing of criminals can be prevented effectively. The spikes can be hidden, so that residents are prevented by being hurt by accidentally touching the spikes.
