The invention relates to a microwave dielectric ceramic material and a preparation method thereof and belongs to the technical field of processing of ceramics. The microwave dielectric ceramic material comprises the following components in parts by weight: 20-60 parts of BaCO3, 10-20 parts of TiO2, 10-20 parts of ZnO, 1-10 parts of Nb2O5, 1-10 parts of ZrO2, 0-5 parts of Nd2O3, 0.1-3 parts of CuO, 0.1-2 parts of H3BO3 and 0.1-2 parts of MnCO3. The preparation process comprises the following steps: burdening, performing primary ball milling, drying and screening, pre-burning, performing secondary burdening, performing secondary ball milling, re-drying and re-screening, granulating, performing dry-pressing, sintering, cooling and obtaining a finished product. The microwave dielectric ceramic material has excellent high-frequency dielectric performances (high dielectric constant, small dielectric loss and stable resonant frequency and temperature properties), has a series of circuit functions of dielectric isolation, dielectric waveguide, dielectric resonance and the like, and can be widely applied to microwave communication, data transmission, radar, electronic countermeasure, satellite navigation and other fields.
