The invention relates to a hollow ceramic carrier and a preparation method thereof and belongs to the technical field of ceramic processing. The hollow ceramic carrier is prepared from the following components in parts by weight: 30-50 parts of talcum powder, 20-30 parts of aluminum oxide, 5-10 parts of aluminum hydroxide, 10-20 parts of silicon oxide, 5-10 parts of kaolin, 0.1-2 parts of a surfactant, 0.1-1 part of a binder and 0.5-2 parts of a pore forming agent. The preparation method comprises the steps of evenly mixing the materials according to the weight parts, adding pure water accounting for 70-80% of the total weight of the materials, pouring the mixture into an extruding forming machine for extruding molding, performing primary drying by use of a microwave drying method, and calcining to obtain the hollow ceramic carrier.
