The invention provides a fossil pottery and a preparation method thereof. The fossil pottery is prepared by mixing 35-45 percent of fossil by mass and 55-65 percent of clay by mass, wherein the fossil consists of 70-75 percent of ferroferric oxide by mass, 10-15 percent of silicon dioxide by mass, 5-10 percent of calcium carbonate by mass, 1-3 percent of manganese dioxide by mass, 1-3 percent of potassium oxide by mass and 0.01-0.03 percent of strontium carbonate by mass. According to the fossil pottery and the preparation method thereof, the problems of large pottery porosity and low compressive strength of an existing pottery can be solved, the production cost can be reduced, and the product quality can be ensured.
