The invention relates to a riser heat insulation agent of a roll core and a method for feeding a riser. The riser heat insulation agent comprises the components in percentage by weight: 10% to 50% of SiO2, 10% to 50% of CaO, 1% to 20% of Al2O3, 1% to 10% of MgO, 1% to 10% of Fe2O3, 5% to 30% of C and the balance being impurities; heat insulation agent particles are prepared by carrying out technologies of mixing, pelleting, drying and the like on all components of the riser heat insulation agent. The method for feeding a riser of the roll core by adopting the riser heat insulation agent comprises the following steps of step (1), spreading the riser heat insulation agent on the surface of casting liquid in the riser within a certain time after the pouring of the roll core is completed; step (2), uniformly covering the riser heat insulation agent on the surface of the casting liquid by a tool. The riser heat insulation agent and the method, disclosed by the invention, have the advantages of increasing the feeding effect, reducing the labor intensity of workers, reducing the labor time, reducing the production cost and the like.
