The invention relates to a mineral filling material for cables and a preparation method thereof. The mineral filling material comprises the following components in percentage by volume: 60 percent of high-alumina cement, 15 percent of quartz powder, 15 percent of calcium carbonate, 1 percent of calcium stearate, 5 percent of hydrogen peroxide, 2 percent of lithium base enhanced powder and 2 percent of polypropylene fibers (PP). The base material refers to an inorganic mineral material, the mineral filling material disclosed by the invention is high in fire resistance and flame-retardant property and has high strength, and the selected materials do not produce toxic and harmful substances under high-temperature conditions and are slight in environmental influence.
