The invention relates to a ship lock safety rope system. The ship lock safety rope system comprises a PLC instruction control module, a water level measuring module, a ship lock video monitoring module, an air bag moving transporter, an air bag body, an air bag charging/discharging pipe, an air bag pressure sensing device, a lock wall adsorption device, a charging/discharging analytical control device, a first charging/discharging device and a power source, wherein the lock wall adsorption device and the air bag pressure sensing device are arranged on the surface of the air bag body; the first charging/discharging device is connected with the air bag body by use of the air bag charging/discharging pipe to charge or discharge the air bag body; the airbag body is arranged on the air bag moving transporter. The invention also relates to a control method of the ship lock safety rope system. The ship lock safety rope system and the control method are designed for the existing built ship locks, and are capable of effectively preventing a ship lock door from being knocked by a ship in case of ship lock disengaging; as a result, the operational safety of the ship lock door can be guaranteed, and the life and property safety of the lock passing ship and sailors can be effectively protected.
