The invention discloses a damping steel structure which comprises a steel column and a steel slab. The column comprises an upper column and a lower column, an insertion hole is formed in the lower end of the upper column, an insertion column matched with the insertion hole is arranged at the upper end of the lower column, a wooden damping gasket is arranged at the contact position between the upper column and the lower column, and meanwhile the slab is welded to the side face of the upper portion of the upper column. The damping steel structure has the advantages that shake of the slab is small.
