Apparatus and method for preventing water pipe from freezing
Disclosed are an apparatus and a method preventing a water pipe from freezing, capable of preventing a water pipe from freezing regardless of the operation of a human or variations in a time zone or outdoor temperature by detecting the temperature of the water in the water pipe and discharging a predetermined amount of water from the water pipe prior to freezing of the water. The apparatus for preventing a water pipe from freezing comprises: a temperature sensor for sensing the temperature of the water in the water pipe; a valve installed in the water pipe in which the water that has passed through the temperature sensor flows; and a control unit for determining whether the water in the water pipe has started freezing based on the temperature of the water sensed by the temperature sensor, and controlling, if it is determined that freezing starts, the valve to open.
