The invention discloses a method for reducing return back of peculiar smell in a sewer line. According to the method, a grid plate is mounted in a plastic square frame; a filtering net is mounted below the grid plate; two air doors which are connected with the square rim and can be opened towards the opposite directions are mounted below the filtering net; resetting springs are mounted on the air doors; the frame is placed at a water drainage opening of the sewer line; water can be drained when the grid plate presses the air doors to be opened; impurities are blocked by the filtering net; after sewage is completely drained, the air doors jack the grid plate to prevent the smell from returning back under the action of the resetting springs. The method is simple, reasonable in design, environmentally friendly and practical.
