The invention provides a horizontal folding door. The horizontal folding door is characterized in that longitudinal grooves are reserved in the outer surfaces of two side edges of a door frame; a front door plate and a rear door plate are mounted on the door frame; a folding hinge is mounted between the front door plate and the rear door plate; rollers are mounted on two side surfaces of the front end of the front door plate and embedded into the grooves in the side edge of the door frame; a connecting shaft is mounted between the rear end of the rear door plate and the side of the rear end of the door frame; sliding rods are mounted on two side surfaces of the rear part of the rear door plate; the other end of each sliding rod is mounted on the outer surface of the side edge of the door frame. The horizontal folding door solves the problems that independent door plate protection is adopted at an upper opening of a staircase, the structure is heavy and the operation is difficult; the horizontal folding door is widely applied to protection of the upper opening of the staircase, in particular the upper opening of a small one-storey house which is generally constructed in village.
