The invention relates to a buffer tube for a road guardrail. The buffer tube comprises an inner tube and an outer tube, wherein an annular magnet is wrapped on the outer surface of the inner tube; an electromagnet of which the magnetic pole is opposite to that of the annular magnet is fixedly connected to the inner surface of the outer tube; a space exists between the outer surface of the annular magnet and the inner surface of the electromagnet; the inner tube and the outer tube are fixedly connected by a plurality of rubber brackets; an infrared sensing device used for controlling the electromagnet is fixedly connected to the wall of the outer tube; a power supply device used for supplying power for the infrared sensing device and the electromagnet is arranged on the wall of the outer tube. According to the invention, the electromagnet of which the magnetic pole is opposite to that of the annular magnet is fixedly connected to the inner surface of the outer tube, thus the impact force is effectively reduced, and safety of the guardrail is improved.
