The invention provides a method for relieving viaduct vehicle congestion. Elevators for automobiles to descent a viaduct are built in the middle or on two sides of the viaduct, the automobiles running in two directions on the viaduct are allowed to descend the viaduct through the nearby elevators for descending the viaduct, so that the density of built approach spans for descending the viaduct is reduced, the automobiles can descend the viaduct midway conveniently, the number of the built approach spans of the viaduct can be substantially decreased, the engineering design is simplified, the building cost is reduced, the construction cycle is shortened, the occupied land is reduced, vehicles can descend the viaduct midway conveniently, traffic congestion on and under the viaduct as well as fuel consumption can be reduced, the utilization rate of the viaduct is increased, and the environment is protected.
