The invention relates to the technical field of pile foundation detection, in particular to an exploring drill bit. A groove is formed in the exploring drill bit; an acceleration meter or a wave detector is accommodated in the groove; a first connecting lead is arranged in the exploring drill bit; and one end of the first connecting lead is connected with the acceleration meter or the wave detector, and the other end is connected with a signal acquirer. Meanwhile, the invention further relates to a method for detecting a pile foundation by using the exploring drill bit. The acceleration meter or the wave detector is integrated on the exploring drill bit, so that the wave return detection is realized while drilling; the method is simple and liable to operate, and has no need to embed a casing and to fill a gap between the casing and the wall of a drilling hole; and shock excitation waves emitted by a shock excitation source are directly received by the acceleration meter or the wave detector after passing through a pile body and pile periphery soil to prevent the phenomenon of weak wave return signals caused by excessive mediums in the transmission process.
