The invention concerns a valve device (10) for a hydraulic door closer (100), comprising a valve entrance (20), a valve exit (30) which is in fluid communication with the valve entrance (20) via a valve channel (40), further comprising a valve body (50) with an adjustment thread (52) which is arranged within the valve channel (40) moveable by the adjustment thread (52) between a first valve position (P1) with a first passage area and at least a second valve position (P2) with a second passage area, characterized in that a valve cap (60) is arranged with a contact surface (64) contacting a counter contact surface (54) of the valve body (50), wherein the valve cap (60) comprises a securing thread (62) with contrary thread direction compared to the adjustment thread (52) for counter bearing of the valve body (50).
