The invention discloses a tower special for a semi-submersible drilling platform and an installation method thereof. The tower comprises an inner tower body, an outer tower body and a tower base. The inner tower body is fixedly arranged in the center of the upper surface of the tower base. The outer tower body is arranged at the portion, on the outer side of the inner tower body, of the upper surface of the tower base. Under the condition that the economical factor, the efficient factor, the site equipment factor and the like are comprehensively considered, the technological method in which a traditional tower on the semi-submersible drilling platform is disassembled in the installation process and divided into the outer tower body and the inner tower body, and meanwhile the outer tower body and the inner tower body are each formed by combining an upper module with a lower module in a butt-joint mode in the installation process of the outer tower body and the inner tower body is provided. The upper modules and the corresponding lower modules are well combined in the butt-joint mode, efficient combining is achieved, the aim of shortening the production cycle is achieved, and meanwhile it is guaranteed that the stability of the overall structure of the tower is unchanged.
