USE OF HYBRID COPOLYMERS AS PROTECTIVE COLLOIDS FOR POLYMERS
The invention relates to the use of hybrid copolymers as protective colloids for polymers based on ethylenically unsaturated monomers (base polymers), characterised in that the hybrid copolymers are obtainable by A) radically initiated polymerisation of one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers a) selected from the group comprising vinyl esters of carbonic acids having 1 to 15 C atoms, methacrylic acid esters or acrylic acid esters of carbonic acids having unbranched or branched, where applicable substituted alcohols having 1 to 5 C atoms, methacrylic acid amides or acrylic acid amides of amines having unbranched or branched, where applicable substituted amines having 1 to 15 C atoms, olefins and dienes, vinyl aromatics and vinyl halides, and where applicable one or more silanes b); selected from the group of ethylenically unsaturated silanes and mercaptosilanes in the presence of one or more water-soluble polymers, c) and where applicable subsequent B) condensation of one or more silicon compounds of general formula (RO)nSiR1 4-n(1)or of one or more condensationproducts of formula (1), where R is a where applicable substituted alkyl or aryl radical having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or a hydrogen atom, R1 is a where applicable substituted hydrocarbon radical or a hydrogen atom, and n has a value from 1 to 4.
