In order to be able to precisely approach a target position (xz) of a movable vehicle part (2) by means of a motorized actuating device (1) using simple means, an actuating motor (3) of the actuating device (1) is stopped by a predetermined advancing movement (xv) before the target position (xz) is reached. The advancing movement (xv) is varied here depending on the rotational speed of the motor (n) or an actuating speed measurement variable correlated therewith and depending on a temperature measurement variable (T) characteristic of the ambient temperature of the actuating device (1).
