The invention discloses a silicon carbide ceramic for an abrasive medium and a preparation method of the silicon carbide ceramic. The silicon carbide ceramic is characterized by being prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 68-78 parts of silicon carbide, 3-5 parts of tungsten carbide, 12-14 parts of a short carbon fiber pre-dispersed material, 3-4 parts of a sintering aid, 5-7 parts of forsterite powder, 3-4 parts of aluminite powder, 2-3 parts of polyvinyl alcohol, 2-3 parts of magnesium stearate, 1-2 parts of calcium silicate, 3-4 parts of zinc borate and 70-80 parts of deionized water. According to the added short carbon fiber, the mechanical property of the silicon carbide is improved; the breaking tenacity of the ceramic is improved; the strength and the compactness of a biscuit are improved; the mechanical processing requirements are met; an accurate material ratio is found out through multiple groups of formula system experiments; the ceramic with relatively high strength, hardness and acid and alkali resistance and good mechanical property is prepared under the action of the sintering aid; and the silicon carbide ceramic has a good application prospect as an abrasive medium material.
