The invention relates to the technical field of locks, in particular to an engaging and disengaging mechanism for a door lock. The engaging and disengaging mechanism comprises a shell, and an engaging and disengaging assembly and a transmission assembly are arranged in the shell; the engaging and disengaging assembly comprises a lower shifting wheel forming lower wave teeth, an upper shifting wheel forming upper wave teeth, an engaging and disengaging block spring, a first handle connecting block, a second handle connecting block, a first engaging and disengaging block, a second engaging and disengaging block and a transmission shaft, wherein the first engaging and disengaging block, the second engaging and disengaging block and the transmission shaft are arranged in space formed by matching of the first handle connecting block and the second handle connecting block; the lower shifting teeth are matched with the upper wave teeth, and communicated penetrating holes are formed in the lower shifting wheel and the upper shifting wheel; the first handle connecting block is located in the penetrating hole, and the bottom end of the engaging and disengaging block spring is embedded on the first engaging and disengaging block; a first shaft hole is formed in the inner bottom wall of the shell, a second shaft hole is formed in the bottom side of the upper shifting wheel, and the two ends of the transmission shaft are inserted in the first shaft hole and the second shaft hole; and the transmission component is in driving connection with the lower shifting wheel. The engaging and disengaging mechanism is good in engaging and disengaging stability, cannot fail for a long time, and is long in service life.
