The purpose of the present invention is to provide a barium titanate-based PTC thermistor ceramic composition that has a Curie point that is shifted to a temperature higher than 120 DEG C without using Pb, readily turns semiconductive even when fired in air, has a small room-temperature resistivity, and experiences minimal change over time. This invention is characterized in being provided with a sintered body having the barium titanate-based compound represented by the general formula (1) as a principal component, (Ba1-x-y-wBixAyREw) alpha (Ti1-zTMz)O3 ...(1), where 1.02y <= x <= 1.5y ...(2), 0.007 <= y <= 0.125 ...(3), 0 <= (w+z) <= 0.01 ...(4), and 0.97 <= alpha <= 1.06 ...(5); the sintered body containing Ca at a proportion of 0.01 mol to less than 0.05 mol, in terms of element, to 1 mol of Ti sites.
