The invention discloses lacquer and a preparation method thereof. The lacquer comprises, by mass, 5-10% of water, 0.3-0.5% of hydroxyethyl cellulose, 0.5-2% of ethyl silicate, 0.1-0.3% of pH value conditioning agent-ethanol amine, 0.5-1% of zirconium silicate, 20-30% of emulsion, 0.2-0.8% of nano-titanium dioxide, 0.2-0.8% of bromine alkyl ammonium, 5-10% of lacquer slices of all colors, 15-25% of natural coarse colored sand and the balance of natural fine colored sand. According to the preparation method, the water, the hydroxyethyl cellulose, the ethyl silicate, the ethanol amine, the zirconium silicate, the emulsion, the nano-titanium dioxide, the bromine alkyl ammonium, the natural coarse colored sand, the lacquer slices of all colors and the natural fine colored sand are stirred and mixed, and therefore the lacquer which is high in anti-pollution capacity, good in acid and alkali resistance and weather resistance and environmentally friendly.
