The invention discloses a composite polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent and a preparation method thereof. The composite polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent includes a polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent and a protective colloid wrapping the polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent. The protective colloid wrapping the polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent can increase thermal-decomposition temperature of the polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent, so that the composite polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent is high in thermal-decomposition temperature and further water reduction rate of the composite polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent. The composite polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent is good in constructability, is high in strength and is good in adaptability. The composite polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent is high in the thermal-decomposition temperature, so that pulverization drying temperature can be greatly increased during a pulverization process of the composite polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent, and further the water content of the pulverized composite polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent is reduced, thereby improving the performances of the composite polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent. The preparation method is simple and convenient, is high in efficiency and is pollution-free.
