The invention discloses a preparation method of a light-weight ribbon board for a building partition wall. The preparation method comprises the following steps: placing magnesium oxide in water, dissolving, and filtering to obtain a magnesium chloride solution; cooling the magnesium chloride solution to form a cooling liquid; uniformly mixing brine, magnesium oxide, coal ash and lightweight aggregate to form a uniform raw material; uniformly stirring the raw material and the cooling liquid to form a slurry; putting the slurry into a mould to be subjected to mechanical pressing. Compared with the original light-weight ribbon board for the building partition wall, the strength is obviously improved; besides the raw materials are added with gridding cloth or glass silk, so that the strength is further improved, and the waterproof performance is also improved.
