Piezoelectric ceramic electronic component and method for manufacturing piezoelectric ceramic electronic component
A piezoelectric ceramic element (1) is formed from a polyhedron shape having shaped anisotropy such as a cuboid having opposite surfaces (3, 4) on which external electrodes are formed. The opposite surfaces have first sides (5a, 6a) and second sides (5b, 6b) that are parallel to each other. Between the first side (5a) and the second side (5b) on one of the opposite surfaces (3, 4), an orthogonal width dimension (L1) orthogonal to the first side (5a) and the second side (5b) within the surface is formed so as to be larger than the length dimension of the first and second sides (5a, 6a, 5b, 6b). A crystal axis is {100} oriented parallel to the first and second sides (5a, 6a, 5b, 6b). The degree of orientation (F) according to Lotgering's method is 0.4 or greater. Thus, by forming the crystal orientation of the piezoelectric ceramic element in a specific direction, excellent piezoelectric characteristics can be obtained.
