The invention relates to refractory matters and a preparation method thereof, particularly to a chrome-free brick and a preparation method thereof, and provides the chrome-free brick which is prepared from the following components in parts by weight: 15-18 parts of coarse fused magnesite particles, 20-25 parts of fine fused magnesite particles, 20-25 parts of fine fused magnesite powder, 2-5 parts of light roasting magnesium oxide powder, 3-6 parts of alpha-aluminium oxide micro powder, 5-10 parts of metallic aluminium, 10-15 parts of electric fused alumina-rich spinel powder, 10-15 parts of electric fused alumina zirconia and 3-5 parts of liquid phenolic resin. The prepared chrome-free brick provided by the invention is simple in production method, has the characteristics of good slag erosion resistance, high high-temperature intensity, relatively high compactness, and the like, is environment-friendly as raw materials do not contain chrome, and has the comprehensive use performance superior to a magnesite-chrome brick.
