A retractable rod ladder comprises an inner rod, an outer rod and a vertical ladder, wherein side grooves are formed in two sides of the outer rod; foldable pedal rods are arranged in the grooves of the outer rod; the inner rod with elastic supporting pedals is placed in a rod barrel of the outer rod; when the inner rod is lifted, the pedals can be unfolded automatically; and the slidably vertical ladder sleeves a rod body of the inner rod. When a hook on the top of the inner rod is hung on a fixed object at a high position, the rod ladder can extend; and the retractable rod ladder can be folded at ordinary times. The rod ladder has the advantages of small size, convenience in carrying, flexibility in use, fast assembly and high safety.
