The invention provides a novel gravity type breaking hammer which comprises a buffer device, a hammer body housing, a pulleytransmission mechanism, a steel wire rope, a hydraulic cylinder, a guide barrel, a regulating hole, an impact piston, a drill rod and a rock, wherein the buffer device is connected with the impact piston; the pulley transmission mechanism, the steel wire rope and the hydraulic cylinder are mounted in the hammer body housing; the hydraulic cylinder drives the pulleytransmission mechanism to move up and down; the guide barrel is positioned at one side of the hammer body housing; the hydraulic cylinder is fixed on the hammer body housing; the drill rod is positioned at the lower end of the guide barrel and mounted on the buffer device; and a regulating hole is formed in the hammer body housing. The novel gravity type breaking hammer has the advantages of being simple in structure, convenient in operation, high in production efficiency, low in use and maintenance cost, small in noise pollution and the like, can greatly improve production efficiency of relevant industries and can reduce the production cost, so that economic benefits of enterprises are improved, and therefore, the novel gravity type breaking hammer is suitable for secondary crushing operations in places such as large mines, open-pits, metallurgic plants, and the like, and is wide in application and popularization prospects.
