The invention discloses a method and structure for rapidly expanding the island area. The method includes the steps that firstly, a row of inner side supporting platforms are arranged on the periphery of an island; then, the inner side supporting platforms serve as construction supports; sand on the sides, away from the island, of the inner side supporting platforms is moved to the sides, close to the island, of the inner side supporting platforms, and therefore the sand on the sides, close to the island, of the inner side supporting platforms can be exposed out of the water surface to form land; and therefore the structure for rapidly expanding the island area can be formed. Operation is simple, implementation is easy, transferring of the sand on the island can be effectively prevented, reliability and the bearing capacity are good, and the area of the island can be rapidly expanded.
