The invention relates to the technical field of monitoring rods and discloses a monitoring rod capable of adjusting the height conveniently and freely rotating. The monitoring rod comprises a fixed seat, wherein a fixed bolt is in threaded connection with the interior of the fixed seat. According to the monitoring rod, a gear motor can be started through a maintaining cabinet to drive a center shaft to rotate; an idler wheel in a sliding chute rotates along with the center shaft to have friction with the sliding chute by relative displacement, so that the center shaft moves towards the highestpoint on the front side along a connecting plate; when the center shaft moves to the highest point from the lowest point, a bracket rotates along with the center shaft by taking a mounting rod as thecenter shaft, so that a mounting rod in an ejection rod is driven to drive a camera mounted on a camera mounting seat to rotate through auxiliary rotation of a limiting plate, so that the angle between the camera and the ground is changed; and through the manner, the gear motor drives the center shaft to move towards the highest points on the two sides, so that the camera angle is changed to realize the free rotary purpose.
