The invention discloses a maintenance prompting method of a central flue purification system. The central flue purification system comprises range hoods installed on different floors, wherein each range hood comprises a fan; an air outlet of each range hood communicates with a public flue through a smoke pipe of the range hood; an adjustable check valve and a flow velocity detection module are installed on each smoke pipe; and a centralized filter is installed in the public flue. The maintenance prompting method is characterized by comprising a filter maintenance detection method and a fan impeller maintenance detection method which are mutually independent. According to the maintenance prompting method of the central flue purification system, the before-and-after flow velocities of the pipes detected by the flow velocity detection modules are compared to determine whether the centralized filter in the flue needs maintenance or not; and in addition, for an indoor machine impeller installed on each floor, the change of the rotational inertia of the impeller is judged by utilizing the time difference of the rotational speed or acceleration of the impeller on each floor, so that whether the weight increase caused by the greasy dirt exists or not and whether the indoor machine impeller needs maintenance or not are further determined.
