The invention discloses a steel bar strapping machine. The steel bar strapping machine comprises a shell, a working head, a power mechanism, a switch mechanism, a signal acquisition unit and a controlunit, wherein the working head is used for twisting joint of steel wires; the working head comprises a body part extending out of the shell along a first extending direction and a working part arranged at the end, away from the shell, of the body part; the working part has a second extending direction different from the first extending direction; a first axis of the body part is defined along thefirst extending direction; the power mechanism is used for driving the working head to rotate around the first axis; the switch mechanism is used for controlling the starting of the power mechanism;the signal acquisition unit is used for detecting the state of the working head and outputting a detection signal characterizing the state of the working head, and outputting a separation signal whenit is detected that the working head is separated from the steel wires; and the control unit is electrically connected with the power mechanism and the signal acquisition unit, and is used for controlling the power mechanism to drive the working head to rotate to a preset initial position when the separation signal is received. The steel bar strapping machine can improve the operation convenienceand has high working condition adaptability.
