The invention relates to the technical field of sponge cities, in particular to a rainwater collection and purification system for a sponge city. The rainwater collection and purification system comprises a storage tank and a purification tank buried in the ground, wherein a rainwater inlet is provided on the top of the purification tank, a pumping pipe is led out of the storage tank, the purification tank comprises a sedimentation chamber and an overflow chamber, the rainwater inlet is located at the top of the sedimentation chamber, a pump and suction dual-purpose pipe is led out of the sedimentation chamber, both the sedimentation chamber and the overflow chamber are provided surrounding the storage tank, the overflow chamber and the sedimentation chamber are communicated only through acircle of overflow holes with equal height, the overflow chamber and the storage tank are communicated only through a circle of flow holes with equal height, the overflow holes are higher than the flow holes, and the flow holes are higher than the bottom within the storage tank. The system is more advantageous than a grid-shaped hollow rainwater storage module as not only having the function of purifying turbid rainwater, but also being able to easily remove sediments, has the advantages of energy saving and emission reduction because of high structural strength and long service life buried in the ground, and has the advantage of environmental protection by being buried in the ground without polluting the land and affecting plant growth.
