The invention discloses an automatic cleaning and maintaining device for a column type steel structure. The device comprises climbing boxes, the climbing boxes are symmetrically arranged front and back, the tail ends of the right sides of the inner end faces of the climbing boxes are hinged to each other, a vertically-through hollow cavity with an inward opening is formed in each climbing box, a pull ring cavity with a leftward opening is formed in the rear climbing box, and a clamping block cavity is formed in the front side of the front hollow cavity in a communicating mode; a clamping transmission cavity extending forwards is formed in the left side of the clamping block cavity, the climbing boxes can be opened and closed through lock head blocks and the pull rings, installation is convenient, the clamping boxes move rightwards to be matched with the triggering boxes to complete automatic clamping, the automation degree is increased, a driving wheel shaft rotates to drive the climbing boxes to ascend, automatic cleaning and maintaining of the column-shaped steel structure are completed in cooperation with a rotating water spraying of a rotating box, and it can be guaranteed thatno dead corner exists during cleaning through rotating of the rotating box, a centrifugal push block pushes a hairbrush sliding block, so that the hairbrush can be tightly attached to the surface tobe cleaned, and the brushing quality is guaranteed.
