A building construction method adopting stepwise implementation of forward construction and reverse construction comprises the following steps: S1, carrying out the reverse construction on vertical support members of a peripheral reverse construction area; S2, using the reverse construction method to carry out construction in the peripheral reverse construction area and manufacture horizontal support members of structural beams and slabs, so that a closed-loop horizontal support system is formed on the periphery of a main building; S3, reserving back pressure earth in the peripheral reverse construction area according to pit deformation requirements, and carrying out excavation on a main building area to reach a base through multistage sloping; and S4, carrying out the forward constructionon a main building area structure, and simultaneously carrying out upward construction on the main building and downward reverse construction on an underground structure of a reserved earth sloping area on the periphery of the main building after beam and slab structures of different floors, which are achieved through the forward construction of the main building, are integrated with beam and slab structures of the different floors, which are achieved through the corresponding peripheral reverse construction. The method provided by the invention has the advantages that the temporary support engineering amount can be greatly reduced, the excavation efficiency can be improved, and the construction progress can be greatly accelerated; and in the peripheral reverse construction stage, a large-space opening in the main building forward construction area is achieved, so that the ventilation and daylighting conditions of underground construction can be remarkably improved.
