The invention provides a garage door control method and a garage door control system. The garage door control method comprises the following steps: a vehicle terminal sends a garage opening request toa server after receiving a user instruction, wherein the garage opening request comprises identification information and/or position information of the vehicle terminal; and the server compares the position information of the vehicle terminal with the position information of a corresponding garage door, when distance between the position information of the vehicle terminal and the position information of the garage door is less than or equal to a first threshold value, the server sends garage opening control information to a garage door control device, and the garage door control device receives the garage opening control information and opens the garage door. With the garage door control method and the garage door control system provided by the invention, a user is free from getting offand opening the garage door personally, and is also free from waiting for an opening process and a closing process of the garage door at the garage door, and thus, the method and the system save precious time for people and are simple and convenient to operate.
