The invention relates to a silicon dioxide aerogel modified rock wool product and a preparation method thereof; a rock wool thermal insulation product is composed of rock wool filaments and silicon dioxide aerogel doped with the rock wool filaments, and the silicon dioxide aerogel accounts for 1-10% of the weight of the rock wool thermal insulation product. The preparation method comprises the preparation processes that: the modified silicon dioxide aerogel is uniformly dispersed in a phenolic resin solution, the phenolic resin glue solution with the silicon dioxide aerogel is conveyed to a nozzle through a pipeline, the modified silicon dioxide aerogel is uniformly dispersed in rock wool silk along with the phenolic resin solution in a fiber forming process, and the thermal insulation material is obtained after cotton collecting, conveying, pleating, pressurizing and curing. The silicon dioxide aerogel is added in the preparation process of the rock wool product, so that the heat conductivity coefficient of the rock wool product for external wall thermal insulation is effectively reduced, and the thermal insulation effect of the rock wool product is improved.
