The invention discloses an automatic door opening and closing mechanism and a refrigerator using the same. The automatic door opening and closing mechanism comprises a motor, a gear and a rack matchedwith the gear, wherein the motor is connected to the gear through a connecting shaft; the gear is in meshed connection with the rack; and the motor is connected to a control device of the refrigerator, so that the forward and reverse rotation of the motor can be automatically controlled. According to the automatic door opening and closing mechanism, gear is driven to rotate by the motor, thus, the rack arranged on a glass door is driven to move, further the automatic opening and closing of the door are realized, the condition that the manual opening and closing of the door waste time and labor is avoided, and the customer experience is enhanced.
