The invention particularly discloses a vegetation restoration method of coal gangue hills in mining areas. The vegetation restoration method includes the steps that (1) spiral planting ditches surrounding entire hill bodies are excavated along the circumferences of the coal gangue hills; (2) a soil acid conditioning solution for neutralizing the surface acidity of the whole coal gangue hills is sprayed to the coal gangue hills, after spraying is completed, waiting is performed for one to two days, and water is sprayed on the entire hill bodies to wash away the unneutralized residue on the hillbodies; (3) first planting soil layers are laid at the bottoms of the planting ditches, pre-made vegetation seed growth strips are laid along the entire planting ditches, and then second planting soil layers are used for covering the vegetation seed growth strips in the planting ditches; (4) irrigating is performed through irrigation pipes, when the second planting soil layers is soaked, irrigation is stopped, and re-irrigating is performed according to humidity requirements in the later period; and (5) shrubs or vine plants are planted in the planting ditches during a planting season. The vegetation restoration method can be widely used for the needs of vegetation restoration in various mines, and the construction cost of the green plant transformation of coal gangue hills and other mines is reduced.
