The invention relates to a drainage system and method for a road surface in the traffic-keeping stage of a highway reconstruction and extension project and belongs to the technical field of temporarydrainage of road surfaces. The system comprises a widened road surface and an expanded road surface; height difference exists at the splicing position of the widened road surface and the expanded roadsurface; a transverse drainage groove is formed in the splicing position in the direction perpendicular to the length direction of the widened road surface; the transverse drainage groove is formed in the widened road surface; the bottom surface of the transverse drainage groove is a horizontal plane; and the horizontal plane is connected with an expanded road surface.
