The invention relates to a highway protective guard in a mountain area. The highway protective guard comprises a plurality of vertical rods arranged at the edge of a road, the lower end of each vertical rod is connected with a base; a plurality of transverse rods are connected between the adjacent vertical rods; a placement groove is formed in one side, facing the road, of each vertical rod in thevertical direction; a telescopic rod is arranged in the placement groove; a placement disc is connected with the lower end of the telescopic rod; a connecting groove is formed in the inner side wall,away from the road, of the placement groove, a connecting column is rotationally connected between the two opposite inner walls of the connecting groove, a warning tape is wound around the connectingcolumn, one end of the warning tape is connected with the side wall of the telescopic rod, the other end of the warning tape is connected with the connecting column, and a limiting piece is arrangedon the outer side wall of the vertical rod. When a vehicle breaks down, the broken-down vehicle is parked beside the protective guard, people detach the limiting piece on the vertical rod located behind the broken-down vehicle, take out the telescopic rod in the placement groove, place the telescopic rod on a road and tension the warning tape, and therefore passing vehicles are reminded in time topay attention to avoidance, and collision between the vehicles is avoided.
