The invention discloses a carpet type asphalt pavement material which comprises the following raw materials: a PMP2 carpet type modified additive, SBS modified asphalt, an STP2 toughening stabilizer and elastic synthetic filler CPS, wherein the PMP2 carpet type modified additive and the SBS modified asphalt are mixed according to the mass ratio of 20%: 80% to form a polymer mixture, the addition mass of the STP2 toughening stabilizer is 0.5% of that of the polymer mixture, and the addition mass of the elastic synthetic filler CPS is 1%-2% of that of the polymer mixture. The invention also provides an application of the carpet type asphalt pavement material in suspension bridge pavement. The material provided by the invention has relatively high bending capacity, fatigue resistance and hightemperature resistance, and is long in service life.
