The invention discloses a method for detecting a highway pavement width. A camera is arranged in a vehicle and is used for detecting the width of the highway pavement. The method comprises the following steps of A, acquiring a highway pavement image, and acquiring the highway pavement image in front of the vehicle through a camera in the vehicle; B, detecting a lane line, detecting the acquired image through a deep learning image processing technology, and identifying lane information; C, converting a lane line coordinate, performing corresponding projection conversion and coordinate conversion on the lane line by combining internal and external parameters and an installation position of the camera to obtain world coordinates; and D, calculating the width of the highway pavement between the lane lines through the world coordinates. The highway pavement width is detected through an image processing mode, other auxiliary equipment and means are not needed, and the highway pavement widthcan be detected more accurately and quickly so that measurement efficiency is improved.
