The invention discloses a riverway dredger with a sludge treatment function and a working method of the riverway dredger. The riverway dredger comprises a dredger body, a mud suction structure, a reamer structure, a first pipeline, a sludge treatment structure, a second pipeline, a water treatment structure, a drainage pipe and a sludge storage box. The reamer structure mixes sludge and river water into mud, the mud is sucked into the dredger body through the mud suction structure, the sludge enters the sludge treatment structure through the first pipeline to be subjected to dewatering treatment, the water after dewatering enters the water treatment structure through the second pipeline to be subjected to water quality purification treatment and the purified water is drained back into a lake through the drainage pipe, and the dewatered sludge balls enter the sludge storage box to be stored. All the structures cooperate with one another, and then the dredging capacity of the dredger isgreatly improved.
