The invention relates to a fire extinguishing system suitable for high-rise residential buildings. The system comprises a building roof, a rainwater collecting device arranged on the building roof isfurther included, and a long pier is arranged on the building roof. A flow guide groove is formed in the top surface of the long pier; the water outlet end of the rainwater collecting device is over against the water inlet end of the flow guide groove; and a water inlet pipeline is arranged at the water outlet end of the flow guide groove, a filtering device is arranged at the water outlet end ofthe water inlet pipeline, a water storage device is arranged at the output end of the filtering device, a spraying device used for extinguishing fire is arranged at the output end of the water storagedevice, and a control assembly is arranged between the water storage device and the spraying device. According to the scheme, rainwater can be fully collected and utilized, waste of water resources is reduced, and fire can be quickly extinguished.
