The invention relates to a vertical anti-seepage isolation ecological barrier material for a contaminated site and a preparation method thereof. The method comprises the steps: grinding a mixture of bentonite, kaolin and attapulgite and then dispersing in water, and thus obtaining first mixed slurry; adding sodium carbonate, sodium silicate and sodium dodecyl sulfate into the first mixed slurry, stirring and standing to obtain second mixed slurry; adding sodium hydroxide, sodium sulfate, magnesium oxide, calcium oxide and calcium sulfate into the second mixed slurry, and stirring to obtain third mixed slurry; grinding blast furnace slag, fly ash, red mud, mine tailings and ardealite, adding into the third mixed slurry, and stirring to obtain the vertical anti-seepage isolation ecological barrier material for the contaminated site. The potential gelatinization activity of industrial solid wastes is excited in a chemical manner, and the industrial solid wastes are fully hydrated in bentonite slurry. A compact consolidated body having small permeability coefficient and formed by cementitious hardening is simple to prepare, easy to prepare and use on a construction site, ecological, environment-friendly and low in cost.
