According to the technical scheme, the method comprises the followingsteps that a soil retaining body foundation is built at the bottom of the outer side of an existing retaining wall according to the width needing to be widened of a roadbed; a soil retaining body isbuilt on the soil retaining body foundation; a gap between the existing retaining wall and the soil retaining body is filled with filling soil; the part, higher than the roadbed top, of the existing retaining wall is chiseled away; and a widened pavement is built at the top of the filled soil and the top of the chiseled existing retaining wall. The soil retaining body foundation and the soil retaining wall are arranged outside the existing retaining wall, the space between the existing retaining wall and the soil retaining body is filled with the filled soil, and the situation that the wall back of the new retaining wall cannot be filled with the soil or the filled soil cannot be compacted is avoided; meanwhile, the existing retaining wall is reserved, the existing retaining wall does notneed to be moved outwards, the existing roadbed can be rapidly widened, the requirement for different widening widths of the roadbed provided with the road shoulder is met, and therefore it is guaranteed that the side boundary of the roadbed is smooth and appropriate.
