The invention discloses a novel ladder. The novel ladder comprises ladder bodies, wherein a first fixed plate is fixedly arranged between the ladder bodies; a moving mechanism capable of enabling theladder bodies to transversely move is arranged below the first fixed plate; a descending mechanism capable of enabling the moving mechanism to descend is arranged between the moving mechanism and thefirst fixed plate; and a clutch mechanism capable of enabling a movable plate to be connected with a linkage assembly is arranged between the ladder bodies and the movable plate. According to the novel ladder disclosed by the invention, the movable plate is possibly stepped when a user climbs the ladder, and the ladder is dangerous to move, so that a rack is separated from one-way teeth under an initial rotation state; when the ladder needs to move, a limiting block is rotated, so that the rack is engaged with the one-way teeth to move the ladder; and when the ladder needs to move towards thedirection, the limiting block is rotated to the corresponding direction, so that the rack is engaged with one-way tooth to move the ladder.
