The invention discloses a novel rainwater filtering system suitable for a sponge city. The novel rainwater filtering system comprises a permeable layer and an impermeable layer, wherein a filtering well is formed in the centers of the permeable layer and the impermeable layer; the impermeable layer is fixedly arranged on the upper end surface of the permeable layer; an annular bulge is arranged onthe inner wall of the impermeable layer; a filtering assembly is arranged above the annular bulge; the filtering assembly comprises a filtering screen, a sponge layer, a coarse sand layer, a gravel layer and a frame; the frame is fitted with the inner wall of the impermeable layer; two clamping grooves are symmetrically formed in a side wall of the frame; two mounting cavities are symmetrically formed in the impermeable layer; each mounting cavity is internally and vertically and rotatably connected with a central shaft; and a driving mechanism is arranged at the lower end of each central shaft. According to the novel rainwater filtering system disclosed by the invention, the filtering assembly is convenient to clean and replace, and the filtering assembly is prevented from being blocked,so that the filtering effect is improved.
